ARTIFACTSPlanning a Coherant and Rigorous CurriculumMy instruction has looked differently each year based on the learners in each class. Effective teachers adhere to the needs of their learners and create content based on observations and reflections.
Knowing Common MisconceptionsIt is vital to understand and recognize potential misconceptions that may occur during the learning process to prepare for additional instruction, scaffolds, explainations, and learning.
Knowing Background Knowledge and Use of Exit TicketsSurveying for background knowledge allows me understand what students know prior to starting a unit. I can adjust or alter content based on the existing schema. Using exit tickets and reflections allow me to adjust learning for the next day based on student outcomes from today's lesson.
Gaining Insight and IdeasI enjoy spending time during the summers reading the latest ideas and gaining inspiration for improving the delivery of content and building my pedagogy.
Inquiry LessonsInquiry lessons allow students to be active participants in the learning process.
Author and Mentor to New TeachersAs a co-author of EduMagic Shine On: A Guide for New Teachers (2019), I have mentored a group of new teachers via an Instagram group and led a book study during the summer of 2020 and current school year.
